Check the update notice
Open the app and read any update message it displays. Note whether it asks you to restart, obtain a new package or free up storage.
You can check the version installed on your phone in Android Settings under Apps and App info. The location of the version field varies by device.
Prepare without losing account access
Keep your sign-in method available
Make sure you can use the account recovery method associated with your account. Do not share a password or one-time code.
Allow the download to finish
Use a steady connection and check the browser’s Downloads list before opening the new file.
Read the installer details
Review what Android says about the app and the update. Proceed only when the information matches the change you intended.
If the update will not install
An incomplete file, insufficient space or an incompatible package can stop an update. Android may also reject an update when its application identity or signing certificate does not match the installed app.
Do not immediately uninstall the existing app or clear its storage. Those actions can remove locally stored information. Keep the exact error message and follow the checks in our troubleshooting guide.
After the update
Open the app again and check that you can access your account and the features you use. A changed interface does not by itself mean your account has changed.
If access fails, work through the login guide and contact the support entry available in the app with the error details.
